The latest update of Ghost of Tsushima lets you use DLSS 2 super-resolution and FSR 3 Frame Generation simultaneously, so you have the unique benefit of having the NVIDIA DLSS 2 handle super resolution and image quality, while letting the AMD FSR 3 nearly double frame-rates of the DLSS 2 output. All this, without the need for any mods, it's part of the game's original code. It's crazy when you think about it—you now have two performance enhancements running in tandem, with gamers reporting over 170 FPS at 4K with reasonably good image quality. This could particularly benefit those on older GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" and RTX 20-series "Turing" graphics cards, as those lack support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation.

@W1zzard will you be testing this title?

Keen to test that myself and see how it goes, and it's excellent that FSR FG has been decoupled from having to use FSR SR, it should be able to be used with whatever flavour of AA, even no AA if you choose, especially given the list of methods this game supports;

Damn! I had no idea such a thing was possible. I haven't even seen this reported on the PC game sites that I visit.

Would be a nice title to test FSR.FG vs DLSS.FG since FSR.FG is decoupled from FSR2 but nah, Sony blocked my country along with 179 others from buying the game LOL

I've get black screen at the cinematics if FSR FG is on. Don't need as game runs fine without it, but yeah another title that has issues with FSR FG.

FSR 3.0, FG On, looks great, but randomly game crashed...

Havent tried FSR FG, but DLSS FG is giving some flickering in CSs. Seems good otherwise. From the first hour of play, Ive managed to break 200 fps at times with a power limited GPU. Typically 165-175 4K max DLSSQ3.

What stands out most however is that DLAA isnt as taxing as Ive seen in other games, there is normally a gulf between rendering below native to full native with DLAA, but in this game it just feels like a small step over DLSSQ. In fact, using DLSS tweaks, the difference in performance is similar to setting a DLSS target render to like 80% res in other games.

SO twice the the anomaly's for higher FPS?

Rumors are flying but I think Sony doesn't want to set up PSN so it is compliant with regulations in those countries but the entire fiasco is dumb as hell because I think this game is mostly focused on single player anyway.

The frames are over 200 with DLSS + Frame Generator which i usually don't get with just DLSS. The only issue is that it will crash anywhere in the game. If you try to check your game settings it will crash 1-2 minutes later.

So its there, but its broken AF. Nice.

Perhaps AMD and Sony should team up more. Its like the perfect duo to screw up their own business

They both do have a knack for pointing the sights at their own feet and repeatedly pulling the trigger. Actually, I think it's set for full-auto. Only one pull required.

Guns do it quickly though. This is more like slowly driving a serrated blade in there. Back and forth. Slowly.

I'd wager it won't remain possible for long though, surely neither nvidia nor amd will be too happy their tech is being used thin way

Game crashes like crazy if you use FSR3 Frame Gen. So no, it is definitely NOT working properly.
Also the frame generating is 20-30% at tops, no near nGreedia's 70-80% more.

It depends. I have 3080ti after 10 hours of gameplay 0 crashes DLSS Quality + AMD frame gen in 4K

Whenever i see a TV "adding frames" to the existing picture, the first thing i do is smash the feature off. I want to see the movie the way it was intended and not altered in any way.

Frame generation in games is just as stupid. What happened to rendering games in a native and as intended resolution? Upscaling, FSR, blabla. All software tricks to produce more for less.

Ghost of Tsushima Lets You Use DLSS 2 and FSR 3 Frame Generation Together? ›

Can FSR compete with DLSS? ›

Generally speaking, FSR and DLSS deliver a similar performance boost for GeForce GPUs, though we did find a few games where FSR was notably faster, which is important to note for benchmark purposes.

Which is better AMD FSR 2.0 or DLSS? ›

DLSS is able to maintain a more consistent lead over FSR, providing a few frames of extra performance across the performance modes. The difference here isn't meaningful enough to impact the gameplay experience, but there's no denying that DLSS is ahead.

What GPUs supports FSR 3? ›

AMD's third-generation FidelityFX Super Resolution — FSR 3 for short — will run on all graphics cards, which officially includes the following series and generations: AMD Radeon RX 7000 (“RDNA 3”) AMD Radeon RX 6000 (“RDNA 2”) AMD Radeon RX 5000 (“RDNA 1”)

When should you use frame generation? ›

Frame generator adds lag AND graphical artifacts, and both are worse the lower the base framerate is. It's NOT good for going from 30 → 60 fps (although upscaling may help here). It is more suited for 60+ → 120+ fps.

What is the difference between DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 quality? ›

DLSS 2 boosted performance to 84 FPS. That's already excellent, but DLSS 3 put the game into overdrive, accelerating the average frame rate to an incredible 136 FPS. That's a 300 percent improvement over native rendering.

Is FSR3 better than DLSS 2? ›

Speaking of performance, the implementation of FSR 3 upscaling component is 4% slower at 4K in comparison to DLSS and practically identical to DLSS at 1440p and 1080p in terms of performance gain over native TAA solution.

Will FSR 3 frame generation work on Nvidia? ›

The DLSS to FSR 3 mod unlocks frame generation for every Nvidia RTX GPU, providing big performance gains, but it's not without its issues.

Is FSR 3 better than DLSS on Reddit? ›

If you're indifferent, either is fine. FSR 3.0 isn't bad, but DLSS is still better (like most solutions that use dedicate proprietary hardware).

Will there be a DLSS 4? ›

Rumor has it that Nvidia plans to announce its RTX 50-series GPUs by the end of the year, with a possible release sometime in early 2025. There's a good chance that DLSS 4.0 will release alongside the new graphics cards, a strategy we saw Nvidia employ with the release of its RTX 40-series GPUs and DLSS 3.

Does FSR 2 increase FPS? ›

Gamers can achieve maximum ray tracing performance with AMD FSR 2 and AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 Series graphics. AMD FSR 2, our next-level temporal upscaling technology, is designed to produce incredible image quality and boost framerates in supported games across a wide range of products and platforms.

Should you use DLSS or not? ›

You may not need to use DLSS in less demanding titles, even if they support the feature. There are definitely cases where DLSS can make a game look better. That's the idea behind DLAA in the first place — the AI-assisted anti-aliasing in DLSS looks fantastic.

Can I use FSR 3 in any game? ›

Frame generation in FSR 3 is optional – it can be disabled if only upscaling is desired. This will effectively revert behavior to be equivalent to FSR 2. If a game already supports FSR 2 then replace it with FSR 3 for the simpler upgrade path. If a game does not already support FSR 2 then integrate FSR 3 directly.

Will FSR 3 work on 6000 series? ›

FSR 3 arrived alongside a driver-based version of AFMF that is available to RX 7000 and RX 6000 graphics cards and supports any DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 game.

How to setup FSR 3? ›

To enable FSR 3 frame generation, open your game's Graphics or Display settings, look for the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 setting and turn Frame Generation on. AMD also recommends turning on a frame limiter or VSync to keep your framerate within the display's refresh range.

How to turn on DLSS frame generation in Windows 11? ›

In Windows 11, this option is turned on by default. To enable this feature in Windows 10, press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Graphics settings and press enter. This opens the Graphics settings menu. Here you can enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

Should I use frame generation in MW3? ›

The fact that Nvidia is able to deliver such high improvements in smoothness while keeping DLSS 3 games feeling responsive is a marvel. In Modern Warfare 3, however, you'll want to leave Frame Generation off if you plan on playing competitively.
