Since their Senior Night win last week over Ballard Memorial, the Lady Marshals have gone 3-1 in what is probably the end of their regular season due to Tuesday’s game at Carlisle County canceled due to weather. Post season 4th District tournament play gets underway next week at Calloway County for the 23-11 Lady Marshals who will be the #1 seed.

The Lady Marshals lost 3-1 to Muhlenberg County on Friday then followed it up with three straight wins. Two of the wins came at the Best of the West in Bowling Green on Saturday. They beat Apollo 9-4 and Franklin-Simpson by the same 9-4 score. Monday they beat Community Christian Academy 11-0.

Friday at Muhlenberg County (19-6), they got right to work with an early run in their first time at the plate. Madyson Morton led off with a walk, then scored what would be their lone run after a sacrifice bunt by Marin Oakley and error at first base.

The Lady Mustangs tied the game up in the bottom of the inning and went on to score runs in the third and fourth innings in the 3-1 win on seven hits. Harris took the loss, striking out five and giving up seven hits and three runs over six innings.

In the first of two games at the Best of the West, the Lady Marshals won 9-4 over Apollo (17-12) and collected 10 hits. Madyson Morton, Chevelle Henson and Addley Poole had two hits each and all three hit triples.

Poole’s triple led off the top of the third which set up the first run on a single by Macy McLeod. Allicen Harris led off in the top of the fourth with a solo home run for a 2-0 lead and Henson followed it up with a triple and she scored on a ground out hit by Gracelyn Darnall to make it a 3-0 game.

Leading 3-2, they put up four runs in the top of the sixth all on two outs, two coming in on Morton’s triple for a 7-2 lead. A double by Merriel Jackson scored two runs in the top of the seventh for a 9-2 lead that Apollo trimmed to 9-4 with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Another 10 hits for the Lady Marshals in their second game of the Best of the West earned their second 9-4 win of the day over Franklin-Simpson (17-16). Chevelle Henson and Merriel Jackson were the big hitters of the game, both going 3-for-4 and both hitting a double and a triple.

A ground out by Allicen Harris brought in the first run in the top of the first and Franklin-Simpson answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on a homer by Kloie Smith.

A triple by Trinlee Anderson brought two runs across the plate in the top of the fourth and sacrifice by Marin Oakley made it a 4-1 game.

A big five run sixth inning pushed the Lady Marshals lead out to 9-1. The five runs scoring on Henson’s three run triple, an error and Jackson’s triple. Franklin-Simpson added a run in the sixth on an inside-the-park home run by Jayden Kough and trimmed the lead to 9-4 with another run in the seventh.

Harris earned the win over six innings, striking out six, giving up eight hits and three runs.

Fourteen hits over five innings gave the Lady Marshals their 23rd win of the season 11-0 over CCA (5-13). Players taking extra bases were Merriel Jackson with a double, Madyson Morton hit a triple and Allicen Harris hit the long ball over the center field fence. Harris had four RBIs and Chloe Coursey was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Freshman Lilly Hayden earned the five-inning win, striking out six and giving up one hit.
