Nothing complex of real value can be achieved alone, particularly in organ and tissue donation and transplant. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the outstanding SAViD team (NAT Laboratory, Serology and Virology Division) at NSW Health Pathology. Congratulations to the team who quietly work all hours of the day and night in the background contributing to Australia's excellent transplant outcomes. #donatelife #organdonation #awards #healthcare #transplant #seslhd

Very few people have the chance to become an organ donor when they die.In 2023 there were only 1,530 deaths in Australia that occurred in a way that would allow for organ donation. The person must die in hospital, and they also need to be in an ICU or in an emergency department, and usually on a ventilator.Families are always asked if they consent to their loved one becoming a donor, and last year, 793 families said yes. That’s why it is so important that you register to become an organ and tissue donor AND have a conversation about it with your family. Leave them certain.By increasing the consent rate, we will increase the overall number of donors and the number of life-saving organs available for transplantation. There are around 13 million Australians aged 16 and over who are eligible to register as an organ and tissue donor – but haven’t.Let’s inspire more Australian families to say yes to organ donation in 2024 by having the conversation now.https://lnkd.in/gNBshq7g#DonateLife #OrganDonation #TissueDonation

The first transplantation in Portugal took place on 20 July 1969. So this month, we celebrate the National Day of Organ Donation and Transplantation, a well-deserved tribute to health professionals and all those involved in transplantation, including the Air Force, the National Republican Guard, donors and transplant patients. It is also a month to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of donation and its invaluable contribution to saving lives and improving the quality of life for many patients. TransplantHUB would like to mark this month by expressing its gratitude to all the professionals involved in this ecosystem, the donors and their families.#Transplantationday#transplant #organ #software #transplanthub #transplantation #organdonation #medicalsoftware #healthcareinnovation #digitalhealth #healthtech #medtech #transplantation #organtransplant #medicalregistries #registries #TransplantHUB #JamHUB

We are blown away by all your support! Thanks to each and every one of you who donated, we have exceeded our target goal of $100,002 for our Lungitude Foundation Giving Day which is amazing! This year you have funded two great causes.Helping to beat chronic lung transplant rejection and Supporting paediatric lung transplant patient research.1. The average life expectancy for an Australian lung transplant recipient is only 7 years and up to 50% of lung transplants develop chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) within the first five years. More research is desperately needed to prevent this lung transplant rejection.2. New research is keenly needed into initiatives to support young paediatric lung transplant patients, who often face unique challenges due to prolonged illness that sets them apart from their peers.Your donations will help to unlock the vital knowledge needed to prolong the life of a lung transplant recipient and make a real difference in patients’ lives. If you would like to keep in the loop with what Lungitude is doing in the area of lung transplant research and other initiatives, please visit https://lnkd.in/giycg73z or you can subscribe via https://lnkd.in/gxyr2u96#lungtransplant #transplantresearch #transplant #givingday

Hi Folks. Today's post is not about business but about people and lives. Today I had the privilege of donating blood. It's truly a remarkable feeling knowing that a simple act on my part could save lives. The process was smooth, and the satisfaction I feel is immeasurable. I encourage everyone to consider donating blood if they can. It's an incredibly rewarding experience that can make a profound #impact on the lives of others—some interesting facts.#Lifesaving Impact: A single blood donation can potentially save up to three lives. The donated blood can be separated into its various components (red cells, plasma, platelets) and used for different patients with specific needs.#Universal Need: Blood transfusions are a critical part of healthcare worldwide. Every two seconds, someone needs blood, whether for surgery, cancer treatment, chronic illness, or traumatic injuries.#Personal Health Benefits: Donating blood doesn't just help others; it can also have health benefits for the donor. It stimulates the production of new blood cells, reduces the risk of certain cancers, and helps maintain overall cardiovascular health.

📢 Organ and Tissue Donation Week takes place between Monday 18th September – Sunday 24th September. The aim of this week is to inform and sensitize the public about the lifesaving gift of #organ #donation to our suffering fellow human beings. Organ donation is a precious gift that saves lives 💗. It is a decision of great moral value. It is the decision to freely offer a part of your body for the health and well-being of another human being. 💡 Did you know that just one person has the potential to save up to 9 lives through organ donation? And even more by donating tissue. Millions of people around the world have benefited from a successful transplant and millions more are still waiting. However, the gap between the organs available for transplantation and the number of patients on waiting lists is a large and intractable problem. Every year 3,000 people die in the EU, waiting for the transplant that will give them life.🔔 In Greece, organ donation rates are dramatically low📉. According to data from the Athens Medical Association, in Greece there are only 4.8 donors per million population, whereas the European average is 18 donors per million population. The average waiting time for a kidney #transplant is 6.5 years, while 60% of kidney patients die before a transplant is found. ➡️ Not all people are suitable to become organ donors, so make sure you have read the legal framework at your country of residence before you register as a tissue and organ donor: https://buff.ly/3EHevm3 #patients #health #medical #clinic #wellbeing #transplantation

Charitable patient assistance programs like the PAN Foundation aim to support patients on their treatment journeys, while staying compliant with all applicable federal laws and regulations. One of many ways we achieve this is to provide funding for a specific condition, like asthma or breast cancer. At PAN, our disease-specific grants cover all prescription medications for a given diagnosis. This includes generic or bioequivalent drugs that meet any of the following criteria:✔ FDA-approved✔ Listed in an official compendia✔ Listed in published evidence-based or clinical guidelinesIt's about empowering patients to work with their healthcare providers to choose the best treatment option for their own well-being.Your contributions make this mission possible, and we're here to ensure patients get the right support on their path to recovery.#treatment #support #medication #patientassistance
