As a clinical leader, my colleagues and I make the effort to physically check-in with our frontline care team members whenever possible. With approximately 1,000 CVS MinuteClinic locations across more than 30 states, it’s important that we visit different locations. While visiting, we observe and listen to what colleagues and patients are saying. As a Nurse Practitioner, I am excited to represent a practice that not only allows NPs and PAs to lead their own practice but takes an active role in listening and addressing their feedback.For more than 15 years I have been empowered by our care team members and inspired by the impact they make on patients’ lives. It’s summer, and if you’re like me, then you enjoy taking full advantage of the sunny weather and spending time outside. With school being out, I especially enjoy having more opportunities to do fun activities with my grandchildren. From eating outside on our patio together, to spending time near the water, it’s time that I cherish. My family and I are always on the go, but we always make sure we’re fully prepared for the day we have ahead of us – including sun protection.To prevent sunburns, the CDC recommends we wear an SPF of 15 or more and appropriate clothing. Protecting your skin can also help prevent premature wrinkling, aging and decreases your risk of skin cancer. Sunscreen is important for all skin types.For severe sunburns that start to blister or swell, it’s important you visit a medical professional. Each year, we attend the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Annual Conference to connect with fellow nurse leaders and professional organizations to gain powerful insights that will help us drive innovation. This week, I attended the 2024 AANP Annual Conference. While at the conference, I participated in the corporate council roundtable and attended a presentation highlighting MinuteClinic’s ongoing work with Age-Friendly Health Systems and our delivery of age-friendly care, which provides patients 65+ with more tailored care and preventive health screenings.A big thank you to CVS MinuteClinic Clinical Quality Director Anne Pohnert, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, FAAN, and MinuteClinic Educator Mary Mccormack for leading the presentation. Every year I look forward to attending this conference alongside my CVS MinuteClinic colleagues, networking with peers from across the country and listening to exciting research presented by fellow Nurse Practitioners. #AANP24

It’s officially summer and it’s important to ensure you are protecting your skin while having fun out in the sun. Each summer I enjoy spending some extra time outside with my family. It’s the first full week of June and, for many families, students are either out of school or just about to finish up. As Nurses Month comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to recognize two nurses from our Bloomington, Indiana MinuteClinic for being awarded the Retail Health National Paragon Award, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments that embody our Heart Work Behaviors and bring to life our purpose and mission.Last August, Sofia Paro, FNP-BC, and Jami Lock, LPN, #JoinedForces to save the life of a customer experiencing an allergic reaction. Thanks to the team’s ability to respond quickly and work well together, they were able to stabilize the patient until EMS arrived.Congratulations Sofia and Jami for being named our National Paragon Award winners! #TeamCVS #NursesMonth
